Questions to ask, Who are they, what are they, why are they doing this?
- Who – Company character, soul, mission
- What – business core, what are they selling, offering, providing
- Why – key business objective for outcome of a user visiting the site
Identifying their target audience (users)
- Do they have data on their customers or prospective data
- How can we identify their target audience in the absence of data
- Removing personal bias dive deep on users, age, occupation, capacity, life events
- Design for the user not yourself
- Previous user testing? Can they get a base line user testing?
- What are their key motivators?
From the Client – Business requirements (statement of work, bottom line, money)
- What needs do they need met
- What is their budget
Creative Brief – Marry the user data with the key business objectives(marketing)
- Action plan on how to engage users
- Key marketing objectives that get to the business goal
- Branding, web identity plan, creating a cohesive brand experience
